Enrollment Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility for enrollment at Choice Academy Real Estate School varies based on the course you choose. Some of our professional development classes require an active Alabama real estate license, while others are open to all learners regardless of real estate experience. All financial literacy classes are fully open to the public and do not require any licensure or prior background in real estate. Courses regulated by the Alabama Real Estate Commission (AREC), including Salesperson Pre-License, Post-License, and Broker Pre-License, have specific requirements related to age, citizenship, education, and background qualifications. Additionally, Continuing Education (CE) courses are restricted to individuals who hold an active Alabama real estate license. The detailed requirements below will help you determine your eligibility for each course category.

Reciprocal License (Salesperson or Broker)
-
You must hold a current real estate license (active or inactive) from a “qualifying state”, one in which you completed approved pre-license coursework and passed a comprehensive exam that covered both general real estate principles and that state’s licensing laws.
-
That license must not be a “reciprocal license” or “non-resident license.” It must be a “regular” (original) license from the qualifying state.
-
You must obtain an official “Certificate of Licensure” (license history) from that state’s licensing authority, not merely a copy of the license.
-
The Certificate of Licensure must be issued within 120 days of your application for the Alabama reciprocal license.
-
The Certificate must include certain details at minimum:
-
Your full name and address.
-
The status of the license (active, expired, inactive, etc.).
-
The type of license (salesperson, broker, etc.).
-
A record of the license’s active/inactive periods over the previous 36 months.
-
Whether the applicant passed the original licensing examination, and whether that exam included both the national/general and state portions (or only state law).
-
Any disciplinary history (if applicable).
-
Any additional documentation AREC may require under its rules.
-
-
Applicants must meet general AREC licensing-law requirements for license issuance such as proof of age (at least 19), proof of U.S. citizenship or legal presence, and proof of residency in their domicile state via acceptable documentation (driver’s license, passport, birth certificate, permanent resident card, state-issued ID, etc.)
